What are the symptoms of teething?

Every child is different when it comes to teething. Some children only suffer mild symptoms, whilst others are badly affected. Below are some common symptoms of teething.

  • Slightly raised temperature
  • Rash on the cheeks and face
  • Sore and reddened gums
  • Dribbling more that usual.
  • Poor appetite
  • Restlessness
  • Disturbed sleep.

Most physicians may recommend infant pain relievers such as Paracetamol or baby Ibuprofen which should always be administered in accordance with instructions. Whilst these may be good for short term relief, they carry some unpleasant side effects such as an upset stomach. They are also limited to the maximum doses allowed, which may not be enough to ease your baby’s discomfort.

How can amber teething necklaces help?

Whilst it is important to realise that no extensive research has been carried out into the benefits of Amber teething necklaces; the theory behind how they work seems plausible. Once Amber is warmed by the body it releases small amounts of oil onto the skin which contain therapeutic agents which are then absorbed into the body.

Amber teething necklaces are made from Baltic Amber, the most common form of Amber and the only type of Amber that contains high concentrations of a substance called Succinic Acid. This potent agent contains anti-inflammatory, pain killing and anti-fever properties, amongst other thins, which help with most of the symptoms of teething. Amber teething necklaces can be worn throughout the day, so this agent is delivered continuously to provide relief.

Are Amber teething necklaces sate to wear?

Amber teething necklaces are designed to be much safer for children than ordinary necklaces. They are made with plastic clasps that break much more easily than metal clasps should the necklace get snagged. The beads are also double knotted to prevent the beads coming loose if the necklace breaks. Never let your baby sleep with the necklace on and never let your baby place the necklace in their mouths. The necklace is made short enough to prevent this whilst it is being worn.

Amber teething necklaces cost between £10.00 and £17.00 and come in a variety of different shades.
