Build it and they will come?
Building a website is easy, getting traffic to that website is near impossible unless you know what you are doing to increase your site’s ranking in the search engines. This is where white had search engine optimization methods come in.
How do white hat search engine optimization methods get traffic to my site?
It is actually a lot easier than you think. By employing white hat search engine optimization methods to your site and any articles or posts; you stand a much better change of ranking for your chosen keywords. Below are just a few white hat search engine optimization methods that would increase your site’s chances of ranking in the search engines.
- Put the main keyword in the URL/Domain Name: This is one of the most overlooked and easiest ways to give your site a boost in the search engines. By placing your main keyword in the URL/Domain Name, most of the work is already done for you. Just be careful not to hyphenate the domain name (e.g. search-engine-optimization.com does not rank as well as searchengineoptimization.com). Also try and choose premium top-level domains such as .com, .org and .net. These rank far better than .tv, .info and other such suffixes.
- Put the keyword in the title of your post or article: Search engines consider in-title keywords carry more authority than articles or blog posts that do not. Also, your keyword will be ranked higher the closer they are to the start of the title. For example, for a keyword of ‘Dog Training Methods’ the title ‘Dog Training Methods – How to train your dog’ will be given more authority than ‘How to Train your dog – Dog Training Methods’ because the main keyword is closer to the beginning.
- Put the keyword in the first and last paragraph: Again, keyword placement in these positions carry more weight than elsewhere.
These are three simple white hat search engine optimization methods that will get you noticed on the search engines.

Good ideas but if you already have a domain, number one may be off the table. I try to do the other two at my site htt://3riverscreative.com for example, but no mater what, it doesn't seem to have a lot of effect.
